A [Brief] History of Paper

Paper, as we know it today, was first fashioned in Lei-Yang, China by a court official named Ts’ai Lun. It’s believed that Ts’ai Lun combined mulberry bark, hemp and rags with water and pounded it into pulp. He then pressed out the liquid, and hung the thin matted sheet to dry in the sun.

There are, however, some papers made from mineral, animal or synthetic substances too, but these should never be recycled with paper made from wood.
